Nature nails:)

'Nature does not hurry, yet accomplishes everything'-  Lao Tzu

The summer is slowly but surely creepy up on us and I LOVE it! There is nothing better then looking at your clock and realising it's 9 o'clock and the sun is still shinning:)
Nature is so beautiful and lately I've been enjoying going for a summer stroll in the evening and taking pictures of all the beauty around me. Here is a few of the snaps I took the other day...

One picture of flowers I thought was particularly nice and colourful was this one...

Which led to this creation...

WetNWild Brunch!

Well hello lovely people, hope you are having a fun week so far!

I am really enjoying writing and creating designs for my blog and it's getting exciting. I went to my first ever bloggers event last Saturday held in the Morgan Hotel on Fleet Street. It was to discuss and try out the products 'WetNWid' have to offer their new fabulous Irish customers.
They're an American Cosmetic brand which just launched in Ireland this year starting off in Dunnes Stores and working their way into Pennys ( started from the bottom now we here! lol). I had such a great time meeting fellow bloggers and chatting about all the wonderful products in front of us.

Obviously as a proud nail varnish addict my eyes went straight to the ginormous bottles of nail varnishes! Seriously guys they look the exact same as 'Sally Hansen' nail varnishes but wayyyyyy less expensive. All of their nail varnishes are under the €3 mark so you definitely get your moneys worth:)

The colours I've tried out so far include 'I Red A Good Book' and 'Wet Cement'. They're part of the 'WetNWild megalast' nail varnishes.

I really like 'Wet Cement' as it's simple and looks great with a bit of tan.

'I Red A Good Book'- Such a witty name lol. There is just something about having red nails that makes you feel so powerful and ready to take on the world!

The best things I thought about them are:
  1. The brush is big enough to fit your entire nail so one swoop is enough to cover it all in whatever your favourite colour may be;)This makes that sticky mess when you are going over and over one nail to cover it all a thing of the past.
  2. It drys in literally 10 seconds. So no more waiting around to apply another coat!
  3. Its long lasting which means it wont start to chip for a few days .
  4. Also the finish on them is so shiny which means a clear top coat isn't necessary to get that shine! (I didn't use one on mine)
  5. The size of the bottle! I think I will have these for a pretty long time. 'This is the beginning of a beautiful friendship'-Casablanca LOL

I am definitely going to buy some new colours from this range, because as a student you're always trying to save them dollaaa billzzz;)

Have a great weekend everyone, its almost here!! #wooo

Monday manicure!

Happy Monday Morning beautiful people!:) Hope you all had a lovely weekend and are looking forward to all the fun times this week holds! #anythingispossible

This nail design pop up on my instagram and I thought it was so quirky and cool! It's probably one of my favorite yet most simple designs I've tried out recently.

I put together a little film strip so you could all see how to do it:)

Here's a picture of all the supplies I used:)

Enjoy xxx

Aztec Nail Tip Design! **

Well guys and gals, THE WEEKEND IS ALMOST HERE! That means time for another nail design;)
So last week I went to my college ball and decided to splash out and stick on some fake nails. I bought a set of 200 nails in boots for 12 euro! They are oval shaped (you can get them in square too) and are completely plain which means you could paint them any colour your heart desires! Considering you can pay 10 euro for a set of 15 I think they're really great value and the glue that comes with the set is FAB!!

I painted a design I never done before and think they turned out pretty cool (even if I do say so myself, if I do say so myself HOLD UP)!

  1. I started off my painting the nails a pretty peachy colour and used 2 coats to make it #POP!
  2. I then used a black and created a black french tip...
  3. When this fully dried I got my thin white brush and made lines on the black tip to make mini triangles <<>>
  4. Grabbing a blue and yellow dotting tool I made little dots under the black tip:) Using a gold dotting tool, in between the mini triangles I put in some more dots lol
  5. Last but not least... I covered it all in a clear top coat to make everything even and shiny:D

The finished look went a little something like this ......
(Please excuse the dodgy tan he he)

I seen this quote the other day and I think it sums up my life PERFECTLY!
Things may not go the way I'd like sometimes but sure look, I always have pretty nails and thats all that counts at the end of the day #YOLO

Hope everyone has a lovely weekend full of adventure, fun and nail painting:)

The REAL currency of life is... LIFE ITSELF!

Today as part of an assignment I researched a speech written by an environmental activist that goes by the name of Vandana Shiva. The speech was about 'Economic Growth'. BUT WAIT!! :D Before you stop reading and think this post will bore you to death, I promise if you love the earth as much I do you will fall in love with this wonderful lady.

As many of you can probably relate, when you're told to research something my automatic thought is 'But mom, I don't want to...'  Well, the second I started reading I realized that I am reading a speech written by an incredible women. The way she views the world is just amazing, and I truly believe if more of our world leaders had the same outlook on things as her OUR world would be a much kinder place. (I have posted a link to her speech at the bottom of my post)

The main message I took away from this speech is how the world only sees a country growing by the amount of wealth and money the country has (GDP). Shouldn't growth take into account human life and how we are growing and developing into the people we are? Are we willing to put profits and the greed of businesses before nature and real life?

How is it that beautiful forests aren't seen as growth but when we cut down the trees and destroy their natural beauty by converting them to timber to sell on, then and only then this forest will be seen as 'Growth'? I don't know about you but that just doesn't seem right to me!

One of the most shocking examples Shiva highlighted was that health organisations which promote health and well being aren't seen as growth, yet diseases which force people to BUY medicine are seen as growth! Does this mean disease is a good thing in terms of economic growth? Would out country be in a better financial position if we were all sick and forced buy medicine so the government can get a nice juicy profit?

I think it is TIME TO CHANGE the definition of economic growth, and a little country called Bhutan is already way ahead of us!:) They have created a Gross National Happiness Scale instead of the widely used GDP! They have focused on the well being of their population instead of wealth(in terms of money that is). That's what being human and living is all about, creating real life memories and experiences. We're only here once so we need to learn to enjoy the ride and not get caught up in the mumbo jumboo of creating so called 'wealth.' When we focus on money we miss out on real life and what it really means to be human.

My Favorite quotes from this speech include:

  • And the rich might be rich in monetary terms – but they too are poor in the wider context of what being human means
  • We need to remember that the real currency of life is life itself.
  • The dominant model of economic development has in fact become anti-life.

So I ask YOU, beautiful people of earth, what are your values? Do you value money or do you value life and real life experiences? At the end of the day our values shape the people we are, ultimately shaping our universe.

Peace out and spanksss for reading :)

xoxo
