20 Before 20...

Helllooo fellow earthlings! Hope everyone is having a fabulous day and enjoying the sunshine:)

One thing my friends and family know about me is I always have these great, amazing, supercalafragalistic ideas circling my head about things i'd like to do, places i'd like to go and explore and dreams I want to make a reality!
I sometimes tend to get caught up in the busyness of life and claim I've no time to do things but when is the right time to do anything? It's so easy to keep putting off things but THE TIME TO LIVE IS NOW!
In the words of 'The Script' - 'This ain't no dress rehersal, lemme tell ya kid' LOL

This led me to think that I can either keep putting off all the little things i'd like to do or I can make this summer (my last summer as a teenager, GASP!!) a summer of discovery... Of finding out things about myself, enjoying the little things and taking each moment as it comes:)

I made up a simple, fun list of 20 things I would like to do this summer and i'd like to share it with you and maybe you could join me and make up your own list? #20thingstodobeforeim20

If I don't get them all done its okay, no pressure i'm young I've plenty of time:)  Life is made to be enjoyed!

My list of possibities includes...

  1. Learn how to make candles
  2. Master the art of not taking life so serious and doing things simply for the fun and joy of it :)
  3. Have a cappuccino in the Eiffel Tower
  4. Spend 24 hours technology free!!
  5. Join a dance class:)
  6. Ask one of my grandmothers sisters a funny story about her when they were younger:)
  7. Have a water fight
  8. Write a letter to myself to open on my 30th birthday
  9. Spend the day in howth (I've never been and people are always telling me how beautiful it is:) )
  10. Learn to drive and do my theory test(and possibly even pass LOL)
  11. Participate in a laughter yoga class
  12. Have a conversation with a french person
  13. See Anne Franks house in Amsterdam
  14. Be kind to everyone I meet.
  15. Fall in love<3 I love dreaming about how I will meet my prince charming. It could be at a bus stop, at the supermarket, on a plane, in the park ANYWHERE.
  16. Meet new and interesting people who are also travelling. I love meeting new people and finding out about what they like to do and their culture.
  17. Spend a day at the beach reading my book, listening to the sea and sipping on cocktails.
  18. Go to a flower market in Nice.
  19. Have Fun creating memories and make it a beautiful, free summer to remember.
  20. Look at everyday as an opportunity to learn something new!

There is a lot more things I would love to do this summer and it's all possible! Ill leave it at 20 for the moment though.

Every day is a new beginning and anything could happen! One of my favorite quotes is...
'Begin each day with the thought something amazing will happen.'

Amazing things happen everyday but we just don't notice them. So this summer take time to pause from the busyness of life and enjoy the little things. Life is more fun when we focus on what can go right rather then what can go wrong:)

Peace out
xoxo

Nature nails:)

'Nature does not hurry, yet accomplishes everything'-  Lao Tzu

The summer is slowly but surely creepy up on us and I LOVE it! There is nothing better then looking at your clock and realising it's 9 o'clock and the sun is still shinning:)
Nature is so beautiful and lately I've been enjoying going for a summer stroll in the evening and taking pictures of all the beauty around me. Here is a few of the snaps I took the other day...

One picture of flowers I thought was particularly nice and colourful was this one...

Which led to this creation...

'Do not rush, for the secret of life is patience. Everything that is meant to happen will come at the right time.'

The Magic of Quotes on a Rainy Day.

Happy Tuesday everyone. Hope you all had a relaxing and fun Bank Holiday Weekend doing whatever brings you joy:) I had my head in the books unfortunately, but only four more exams left and i'm a free women!

A habit I've gotten into into recently is looking up a #DailyQuote on my morning bus journey into college. It is incredible how a nice thought at the beginning of the day can set up your mood and outlook for the day.
These are a few of my favourite quotes that get me pumped up for the day ahead and will hopefully get you over the 'dreaded Tuesday' after a bank holiday. LOL!

'Wake up everyday with the thought something amazing is going to happen!'

'Everyday has the potential to be the best day of your life, so why not today?'

Instead of thinking about all the things you don't want to do today such as going to work, going to school, sitting an exam... think of the people you will meet, the memories you could make, the laugh you will have and the experiences you will share with the people around you. Today could be the day you meet the love of your life! Anything is possible:)

'Today you are you that is truer then true, there is no one on earth that is youer then you.'- Dr.Suess
Dr.Suess quotes are just amazing and so full of wisdom. Why worry when you are your absolute perfect self!? No one else can do a better job of being you then you so stop comparing your life to others.

'Start everyday with a grateful heart'
We all have something to be grateful for no matter how small! It can be as simple as having shoes on our feet or actually having feet to get us to the places we want to go in life :) When we focus on what we already have and not the things we want the world seems like a brighter, better place. If we stay focused on what we don't have we will never be happy as we are always looking for more but in reality everything we need to be happy is already in our life.

'You are what you do, not what you say you'll do'

'Always find a reason to laugh. It may not add years to your life but it'll add life to your years'

Life is too short to be taken serious all the time so loosen up, do what makes you happy and don't worry or stress about the little things. Everything always works out in the end. We are here once so why waste it worrying.
I'll finish with one final quote that sums it all up...

'Y.O.L.O'

The REAL currency of life is... LIFE ITSELF!

Today as part of an assignment I researched a speech written by an environmental activist that goes by the name of Vandana Shiva. The speech was about 'Economic Growth'. BUT WAIT!! :D Before you stop reading and think this post will bore you to death, I promise if you love the earth as much I do you will fall in love with this wonderful lady.

As many of you can probably relate, when you're told to research something my automatic thought is 'But mom, I don't want to...'  Well, the second I started reading I realized that I am reading a speech written by an incredible women. The way she views the world is just amazing, and I truly believe if more of our world leaders had the same outlook on things as her OUR world would be a much kinder place. (I have posted a link to her speech at the bottom of my post)

The main message I took away from this speech is how the world only sees a country growing by the amount of wealth and money the country has (GDP). Shouldn't growth take into account human life and how we are growing and developing into the people we are? Are we willing to put profits and the greed of businesses before nature and real life?

How is it that beautiful forests aren't seen as growth but when we cut down the trees and destroy their natural beauty by converting them to timber to sell on, then and only then this forest will be seen as 'Growth'? I don't know about you but that just doesn't seem right to me!

One of the most shocking examples Shiva highlighted was that health organisations which promote health and well being aren't seen as growth, yet diseases which force people to BUY medicine are seen as growth! Does this mean disease is a good thing in terms of economic growth? Would out country be in a better financial position if we were all sick and forced buy medicine so the government can get a nice juicy profit?

I think it is TIME TO CHANGE the definition of economic growth, and a little country called Bhutan is already way ahead of us!:) They have created a Gross National Happiness Scale instead of the widely used GDP! They have focused on the well being of their population instead of wealth(in terms of money that is). That's what being human and living is all about, creating real life memories and experiences. We're only here once so we need to learn to enjoy the ride and not get caught up in the mumbo jumboo of creating so called 'wealth.' When we focus on money we miss out on real life and what it really means to be human.

My Favorite quotes from this speech include:

  • And the rich might be rich in monetary terms – but they too are poor in the wider context of what being human means
  • We need to remember that the real currency of life is life itself.
  • The dominant model of economic development has in fact become anti-life.

So I ask YOU, beautiful people of earth, what are your values? Do you value money or do you value life and real life experiences? At the end of the day our values shape the people we are, ultimately shaping our universe.

Peace out and spanksss for reading :)

xoxo
